KAIROS Dance Theater positions art as an essential force for cultural transformation and collective reckoning. Through bold storytelling and collaborative artistry, we bring diverse voices to the stage, engaging audiences in thought-provoking experiences that bridge art and activism. We are committed to accessibility, inclusion, and fostering cross-cultural exchange, ensuring that dance remains a powerful tool for inspiring empathy, and encouraging action.
KAIROS Dance Theater dates back to 1999, when founding directors DeAnna Pellecchia and Ingrid Schatz began dancing and performing together. In 2005, after many conversations about their experiences as young girls, they began creating a series of duets entitled That Girl and the Other One. In 2012 they expanded the company to include a full cast of dancers to intensify the interactive landscape of their work, resulting in the multi-media, evening-length performance, HER, which premiered in 2014.
DeAnna and Ingrid co-directed KAIROS Dance Theater from June 2012 - July 2015.
Since September 2015, KAIROS has been led by Executive + Artistic Director / Choreographer DeAnna Pellecchia. DeAnna established an international, satellite-company in Russia in 2017 and incorporated KAIROS as an official 501c3 non-profit in 2019.
She is assisted in the U.S. by Rehearsal Director, Founding Member and Principal Dancer, Kristin Wagner; and in Russia by Company Manager, Rehearsal Director, and Founding Member Katerina Zelenskaya.
